Reading time on a destination guide versus a checkout

Long sessions on a Kinabalu trail guide rarely mean the same thing as long sessions on a payment screen. Travel app analytics mix them at some cost.

Destination guides are meant to be lingered over. A guest reading about the Kinabalu summit window is doing something different from a guest staring at a failed card form. Averaging those minutes into one “engagement” number hides both stories.

In a measurement review we split guide reading from checkout waiting. The first can stay qualitative: which paragraphs people reread. The second needs names for retries, OTP delays, and split payments common in Malaysian banking apps.

If a product owner only has room for one chart in a monthly meeting, choose checkout retries during a peak week. The mountain guide can keep its leisurely minutes without pretending they are a booking problem.
